Telling the story of Handel's Messiah

Telling the story of Handel's Messiah

Posted by Cindy Battisti on 10 25 2015

Handel’s Messiah is a beloved retelling of the story of Christ. While composed around Easter, performances have become, over time, a popular Christmas holiday tradition. We are overwhelmed with a lot sweet cuteness, both secular and religious, during the Christmas season. I always feel that attending Messiah gives one a seasonal “grounding”. It is good for a few hours to reflect on the prophecy and the fulfillment of the promise. And after all, Easter, Christmas, whenever: any time is a good one to recall and celebrate the story of Jesus Christ.

Simply stunning and intricate - "I ordered this Messiah bracelet to commemorate my reconnecting to choral singing. When it didn't arrive when expected, I emailed Cindy, who was willing to ship me a replacement ASAP so it would be there for Christmas. Fortunately, I checked my mailbox and found the box way in the back! It is extremely well crafted and made with glass beads and lovely charms. I definitely would love to purchase more!" - Sherri

“Comfort ye my people” A red heart symbolizes God’s Love.

“Every valley shall be exalted, every mountain and hill made low.” A bead with a zig-zag design represents the peaks and valleys.

“And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed.” A sparkling clear crystal indicates God’s promise.

“Thus saith the Lord, I will shake all nations” Three metal beads are threaded so they will click against each other- the “shaking”.

“And the desire of all nations shall come.” A clear hear represents Jesus, the desire of nations, and his message of love.

Wonderful breathtaking bracelet! - "I saw your post on Facebook and could not believe how beautiful this bracelet is! My mom and I sang Messiah together for so many years. When I look at the beads and charms I can hear the music and the words in my head. I also look at it while listening to Robert Shaw's interpretation. Magic! I shared your post, and mentioned how lovely it is. My husband saw my post and ordered one right away. We haven't exchanged Christmas gifts for several years but he said he had to make the exception with this lovely bracelet. You have made my heart sing! Thank you!!" - Bob and Gail

“Who may abide the day of His coming... for He is like a Refiner's fire.” Fiery colored beads symbolize the purifying fire.

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, And shall call his name Emmanuel, ‘God With Us.’" A blue crystal is the Virgin Mary. I chose this, as blue is so often used to represent her in artwork. A tiny dove symbolizes the conception, again as in so many paintings.A mirror finish bead indicates our everyday experience of Emanuel, looking into the mirror and knowing we are not alone.

“O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion- Lift up thy voice, arise, shine, for thy Light is come.” A music note charm symbolizes raising one’s voice in praise.

Truly unique piece of jewelry - " 'Messiah' is my favorite piece of music - I can (and do) listen to it at any time of the year. When I saw this bracelet, I knew I had to have it and I was not disappointed. Not only is it beautiful and eye-catching, but its symbolism in terms of the music is perfect. Next week I'm going to a performance in Philadelphia and I will most certainly wear this wonderful, colorful, well-made bracelet!" - Merrily

“Behold darkness shall cover the earth. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.” A black oval is darkness; the clear crystal of God’s promise is the great light.

“For unto us a Child is born, a son is given.” A Nativity Charm represents the birth of Jesus.

The beautiful instrumental music known as the Pastoral Symphony is symbolized by a Christmas star charm. Deep blue beads indicate the holy night.

Brilliant! - "It was even more special than the picture showed. It's so beautiful I had to order another to give to someone special ! And the presentation with the little goodies made me feel like visiting with a friend. It was so special. Fantastic! Merry Christmas!" - Barbara

“There were shepherds keeping watch over their flock by night. Lo, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and they were afraid. The Angel said: Fear not, for I bring you tidings of great joy-unto you is born a savior, Christ the Lord.” An angel charm captures the moment, the clear heart bead again represents Jesus, her good news.

“Suddenly there was with the Angel, a multitude of the Heavenly Host”. Golden crystals represent the angels. An angel wing charm is that delicate moment in Handel’s music that indicates the fluttering of their wings (I love that part).

“Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion; Behold, thy King come unto thee” (crown charm).

Beautiful and Meaningful - "I found this beautiful bracelet at just the right time. I have begun a program to memorize all the verses Handel used in the Messiah. I saw this bracelet on Facebook and was thrilled! Not only is it beautiful and very well made, it also tells the story of the Messiah. I will be wearing it through the Christmas and Easter season. Thank you for such a special and meaningful bracelet!!" - Karen

“He shall feed His flock like a shepherd” (sheep charm).

“He hath borne our griefs… (Blue teardrop) And with His stripes we are healed (red blood droplet).”

“He was cut off out of the land of the living.” A cross and black bead symbolize crucifixion and death.

“Hallelujah! The Lord God omnipotent reigneth. He shall reign forever. King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!” (Sunburst bead)

“I know that my redeemer liveth; in my flesh shall I see God.” A delicate crucifix bead symbolizes the redeemer.

“Behold, I tell you a mystery, we shall not all sleep, but all be changed in a moment, at the last trumpet (trumpet charm)”. To me this phrase sums up the whole meaning of Messiah a deep blue black goldstone oval sparkling with imagined stars is the mystery and the answer.

A Classic piece for an Annual Classic Messiah - "Having sung Messiah for 16 years, this bracelet was a must have. I think the choice of beads and the charms really depict this wonderful music. In particular I love the inclusion of the trumpet as the Trumpet solo is my favorite bit in the Messiah. I will be doing my 17th performance this weekend and can't wait to wear my new bracelet at both performances." - Robin

“Death (skull bead) is swallowed in victory. Death, where is thy sting?”

"Worthy is the Lamb! Blessing, honour, glory and power, be unto Him forever and ever. Amen." A cross charm finishes the bracelet with a strong "Amen".
