Mozart's comedy Cosi fan tutte, is a perennial favorite. Two soldiers embark on a wild adventure to test the faithfulness of their sweethearts. The plot hinges on some shaky disguises, mistaken identities and mixed up jewelry. The story of this beloved opera defies logic but does not fail to entertain.
Each bead and charm of the Cosi fan tutte Opera Bracelet represents a character or moment from Mozart's work. - Wise Don Alfonso, who sees all, is represented by a grey cat's eye bead.
- The couples are represented by pairs of iridescent gold and blue beads (a round and a flower for each couple) in an attempt to keep the characters straight amongst the disguises and fiancé swapping! Blue are Guglielmo and Fiordiligi. Gold are Ferrando and Dorabella.
- Faithfulness, traditionally represented by sapphires, is symbolized by sapphire blue crystals. Dark glass hearts represent unfaithfulness. Red hearts indicate love.
- Two tiny charms indicate the lockets given to Dorabella and Fiordiligi by their fiancés
- Blue teardrops are the women’s sadness at the loss of their fiancé’s to the army.
- A fluted bead is the maid Despina who tries to cheer them. A pink heart represents her aria “In uomini, in soldati, sperare fedeltà?” A hand holding her heart charm is her aria “Una donna a quindici anni”.
- Arc shaped beads symbolize the mustachioed disguises of the young soldiers. Black discs indicate rejection as the women attempt to resist the handsome new suitors.
- A tiny heart represents the new locket that Dorabella accepts from Guglielmo.
- I chose a question mark bead to represent the aria “Donne mie, la fate a tanti” in which Guglielmo ponders why men tolerate women.
- Dorabella’s aria "È amore un ladroncello" ("Love is a little thief") is indicated by a charm of cupid in a heart.
- I chose a large glass heart with swirls to symbolize Fiordiligi’s inability to resist Ferrando any longer.
- A marriage license charm represents the conclusion of this wacky opera.
