Part of the "Inspired by…" series, The Forest Murmurs Bracelet celebrates Act 2 of Richard Wagner's opera Siegfried. Alone in the forest, Siegfried is attracted to the songs of the birds, plays his horn and draws the attention of the dragon Fafner. After he slays the dragon with his fathers sword, called Nothung, he receives the power to understand the speech of birds from the dragon’s heart and blood. The advice of the Woodbird protects him and leads him towards his destiny.
I chose beads in various shades of green to reflect the colors of sunlight reaching down through the leafy branches of the tree canopy. Leaf shaped beads evoke the forest. A red lampworked glass heart and deep red crystal "droplets" symbolize the dragon’s powerful blood. Charms on the bracelet include Siegfried’s sword, Notung; Fafner the Dragon and the Woodbird that will guide Siegfried onward.
All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.
