The Habanera Bracelet is inspired by the seductive aria from Bizet’s Carmen. This piece makes a meaningful gift for opera fans.

The beautiful Carmen relates the unpredictable nature of love, symbolized by a rebellious bird as she weaves a love spell to capture the oblivious Don Jose.

Eclectic beads evoke the wandering Romani spirit; rather than being comprised of all crystal or Czech beads as many of my bracelets are, I thought about a mixture of different beads one might collect through a traveler's journey. Tiny hearts and birds further reflect the words of the song and a bit of gypsy "jingle" is incorporated with tiny bell chimes. The charms symbolize the rebellious bird, love and the flower with which Carmen will bewitch Jose.

All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.

    Stuck in Traffic

Posted by Jill Brackmann on 02 12 2015

So I was on my way home from work and got stuck at a stoplight at a busy intersection. The sun was just beginning to set (this sounds like I'm making it up but I'm not) and the rays happened to hit this bracelet, which I'd just purchased and was admiring while waiting for my green light. While I love the larger charms, in the sunlight I was able to see the patterns and shapes of the very tiniest beads and was struck by both the artistry and patience it took to select and string them all. The fact that the bracelet also relates to "Carmen," the first live opera I ever attended, makes this piece just perfect.

Thank you for this beautiful affordable bracelet. Cindy's willingness to "tweek" it just a little made it a custom gift for a family member.
