I chose deep green beads with accents of copper to symbolize the sun shining on the fluttering leaves of Serse's beloved plane tree whose beauty and shade have sheltered and comforted him. He sings of his love for this tree in the aria "Ombra Mai Fu".
Glass hearts evoke the love of Amastre and Serse: their emotions and anguish fuel the narrative. Charms on the bracelet include: the tree itself; a crown indicating Amastre's destiny to be queen after much travail at the end of the opera and a swirling heart symbolizing all the mixed up loves of the plot of this opera.
