Pirates of Penzance

Gilbert and Sullivan's rollicking operetta, The Pirates of Penzance, uses a ridiculous plot to explore the concept of duty, honor and loyalty. When word gets around that the Pirates show mercy to all orphans (being orphans themselves), soon all ships round the British coast are manned completely by orphans. Detail after absurd detail adds up as young Frederic tries to change his destiny from that of an apprentice Pirate to that of an "honest" man.
