Part of the "Inspired by…" series, The Ride of the Valkyries Bracelet is inspired by the famous music in Act 2 of Richard Wagner’s opera Die Walkure. The Valkyries gather after battle on their way to bring dead heroes to Valhalla for their father.

Grey and black beads symbolize the Valkyries’ role as the choosers of the slain. Nine clear aurora borealis crystals represent the individual Valkyries and their mythological identity in nature as the creators of the Northern lights. The Viking helmet charm evokes the armor of the warrior maidens while the wing indicates their divinity. The winged horse denotes their power to fly over battlefields and choose the bravest men for Valhalla.

All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.

I'm reveling in wearing it today as we brace for possible tornados in piedmont NC. I'll yell Ho Yo To Ho from under my desk if funnel clouds appear. I heard this performed live under a tent at Tanglewood one summer during a thunder storm - exhilarating! And Cindy's unerring artistry in using iridescent beads evokes the swirling storm clouds and glimpses of battle glory as the bodies of heroes are gathered for Valhalla.

Unique and beautiful

I bought this bracelet for an auction donation, but I'm tempted to keep it! It's beautifully made and the packaging (if you intend to give it as a gift) is exquisite. I especially like the card included with the bracelet that explains the symbolism of the beads and charms. This is the second bracelet I have bought from Opera bracelets, and I know it won't be the last!!
