Part of the "Inspired by…" series, the Barcarolle Bracelet is inspired by the Act 3 duet from Offenbach's magical opera The Tales of Hoffmann.

Overcome by a beautiful night in sparkling Venice, the characters Nicklausse and Giulietta sing of the "beautiful night of love". Wistfully they remark that such moments of beauty and love are fleeting, time will wipe them away and those moments will never return. They embrace the “burning zephyrs” of the night.

Traditionally a barcarolle is a song of the Venetian gondoliers. The swaying melody evokes the rhythm of their poles pushing against the floor of the canal propelling the boat through the water. Millefiore heart beads represent this beautiful setting. Millefiore (meaning a thousand flowers) glass is associated with the Veneto’s famous Murano glass factories.

Deep blue beads with tiny glass hearts and stars symbolize the beautiful night. A clock charm is the relentless passing of time which brings beautiful moments and also takes them away. The moon charm with embossed swirls is the moonlit night filled with warm romantic breezes.

All "Inspired By..." Series Bracelets come with a card that identifies the symbolism of the charms and colors used.

My Barcarolle bracelet is beautifully crafted and brings to mind the opera it represents. I love to wear it...I love to look at it. I have purchased three opera bracelets and look forward to adding to my collection.
