The Night Before Christmas Bracelet tells the story of this classic and makes a unique holiday gift. Clement C Moore's "A Visit from St. Nicholas" went a long way to solidifying the character of St Nicholas. As each culture arrived in America with its own version of St. Nicholas, Father Christmas and more, the author brought different elements of various cultures together in the iconic character that we all come to know across the world as Santa Claus.
Each bead and charm of The Night Before Christmas Bracelet represents a character or moment from the story. Some of the most important beads and charms are described below and you can see all of the symbolic descriptions on the spiral chart in the photos or the written story chart below. NOTE: My bracelets have small delicate parts and are not intended for children.
- Deep blue beads with glass stars and crystals symbolize the Holy night. A glass “sea opal” indicates the moon.
- A mouse bead is the mice that are not stirring. Faceted green and pink beads represent the narrator, Mama and the children. A red crystal is the portly St. Nicholas.
- A fireplace charm evokes the stockings hung by the chimney with care. A cookie bead is the ubiquitous sugarplums and a snowflake bead is the “long winter’s nap”
- A red and white swirl bead indicates the noise that awakes the narrator.
- A charm evokes the “miniature sleigh”; brown beads with a deer charm symbolize the eight tiny reindeer.
- Red and green cubes represent the toys and presents brought by St. Nick
- A striped tube bead symbolizes the chimney by which St. Nick enters and leaves the house.
- Further charms include: Santa’s feet in the hearth; stockings; Santa himself and Santa in his sleigh.
