Part of the "Inspired by…" series, the Pearlescent Love Bracelet is inspired by the opera The Pearl Fishers by Bizet. Leila comes to the village as a priestess to pray for the safety of the pearl fishing fleet. There she is reunited with her lost love Nadir. Nadir's bosom friend and village leader Zurga also loves her. The result? A heartbreaking tale of the beauty of love, compassion and sacrifice.
Pearl beads of different shapes, accented with aqua glass beads and a pearl-in-shell charm evoke the setting of Ceylon. The henna hand charm symbolizes Leila in her role as Priestess. A larger charm of intricate concentric hearts represents Love in the many forms presented in the opera: Leila’s compassion to Zurga in the past, Zurga and Nadir's brotherly love for each other; each of their love for Leila and (spoilers) Zurga's final and fatal act of compassion to save the lives of the two lovers.
